About the game

Radio Silence is hide and seek with a radio. The map is made of 25 location cards of Prague. The Resistance moves across it in secret and writes down where it is on a log pad. The Gestapo sees only the map, its agents, two direction-finding cars and the numbers they measure.

  1. 1The Resistance transmits and runs

Parachutists move in secret and send messages to London from hideouts with a radio. A short transmission is safer; a long one sends two messages and gives away more.

  2. 2The Gestapo locates and searches

Two cars measure how far away the radio is. Agents search locations, follow footprints and prepare a raid.

  3. 3First one wins

The Resistance wins with 6 messages in London at the end of a round. The Gestapo wins by arresting 2 parachutists, or when the Resistance runs out of 10 rounds.

The starting map: 25 location cards of Prague in a 5 by 5 grid, from Prague Castle to Braník quarry. Petschek Palace, the Gestapo headquarters, sits in the middle.

History

Radio Silence is fiction inspired by real events. Behind the character cards stand people who risked everything in Prague.

  1. The Sparta I and II transmitters of the Three Kings group (Balabán, Mašín, Morávek) keep contact with London.
  2. The Gestapo locates radio operator Jindřich Klečka while transmitting. Sparta falls silent.
  3. Operation Anthropoid lands near Nehvizdy: Jozef Gabčík and Jan Kubiš.
  4. The attack on Reinhard Heydrich at the Vychovatelna bend in Libeň.
  5. 85 years since the drop. We will release a second video.

The parachutists hid in the crypt of the Church of Sts Cyril and Methodius in Resslova Street. After a betrayal they were surrounded there on 18 June 1942 and all of them died. The occupiers retaliated with the Heydrichiáda terror, including the destruction of Lidice and Ležáky.

The Gestapo player is not a hero but an opponent worth understanding. The game glorifies none of it and uses no Nazi symbols. A page with the full story and sources is in the works.
